History
The SIMPPAR - International Exhibition of Raw Materials for Perfumery - was created in 1991 in Paris by the Société Française des Parfumeurs – SFP, under the name of “Journée des Matières Premières” (Raw Materials Day).
The aim was to allow its 800 members to discover raw materials for perfumery every other year.
By moving to the Evergreen hotel in Levallois in 2006, this exhibition grew from around twenty exhibitors at that time to thirty in 2009.
In 2011, it moved to Espace Champerret for its tenth edition and, with 50 booths, became the “International Exhibition of Raw Materials for Perfumery – SIMPPAR”.
Since COVID, this exhibition has become an annual event and, for the first time in 2024, it took place in Grasse, the historic cradle of perfumery.
Following the success of this “première”, SIMPPAR now stands annually, alternating between Paris and Grasse.
Today, it is the oldest and most important European exhibition dedicated to raw materials for perfumery.
SIMPPAR’s unique feature is its community spirit : all exhibitors have the same booth, thus putting small producer or multinational companies at the same level, creating a friendly, family-like atmosphere.
It brings together producers of essential oils, natural extracts and synthetic products, compounding companies and suppliers of equipment, packing and software.
It aims to foster exchanges between producers or manufacturers and perfumers, buyers, R&D managers, technicians, etc.
It is not open to general public or individuals.
During the exhibition, the SFP organizes every other year a competition—the "International Young Perfumer-Creator Award"—which recognizes young talent following an anonymous selection process conducted by a dual jury : first technical, then artistic.During the same ceremony, the SIPC presents their awards, followed by a cocktail reception (by reservation).
